> Guided visit “Discover the mahJ”  (1h30, for one to twenty people)
This tour is the best way to discover the highlights of the collection. Roam across the mansion Hôtel de Saint-Aignan and discover this XVIIth classical French architecture. Meanwhile, you will learn a lot about the Jewish Marais district of Paris. Continue your tour exploring the collections levels through a selection of masterpieces. You will discover how French history and Jewish experiences are linked from the Middle Ages, through major events such as the French Revolution, Napoleon’s consistory, the first and second World Wars, and most of all, culture, paintings and nowadays artistic world.

> Guided walking tour "The Jewish Marais" (2h, for one to twenty people)

The beautiful Marais neighborhood has long been considered the symbolic and historical heart of Jewish life in Paris. The Museum of Jewish Art and History (mahJ) invites you to join an English language walking tour to discover Parisian Jewish culture past and present.

As you experience the sights and smells of this dynamic neighborhood you will learn about key moments in French Jewish history, from the optimism following the Jewish Emancipation (1791) to the darkest days of WWII. By following in the footsteps of the Yiddish-speaking Ashkenazi immigrants who settled here in the 1880s and the Sephardic North African Jews who reinvigorated the Marais after the Holocaust, this tour will showcase the mosaic of cultures still visible in this vibrant district today.

Fares for groups of adults

Entrance admission with a group booking for 10 or more people: 7 €/person. Entrance admission under 10 people: 10€/person

Groups must book in advance by email: groupes@mahj.org

The activity must be paid by bank transfer 8 days in advance. It remains charged if the group does not come, except when the cancellation has been announced at least 7 days in advance to groupes@mahj.org. The manager pays the entrance fees on its arrival (payment by cash, bank cards Visa or Amex).

Tuesday to Friday: 11AM – 4PM, Saturday and Sunday: 10-12 AM.
Closed on Monday and for the festivals of Rosh ha-Shanah, Yom Kippur, 1st January and 1st May.

Facilities
Disabled access is available to the main areas of the museum.
The mahJ is accredited with the “tourism and handicap” label for the hard of hearing. The audiophones have an induction loop for the hard of hearing: please, ask for it.

La visita guiada en español es la mejor forma de conocer las obras más emblemáticas de nuestras colecciones. Recorra el Hôtel de Saint-Aignan, residencia aristocrática de mediados del siglo XVII, y aprenda más sobre “Le Marais”, el barrio judío donde está situado. A través del recorrido por las obras maestras del museo, usted descubrirá cómo la historia de Francia y la experiencia de los judíos están estrechamente relacionados desde la Edad Media gracias a importantes eventos históricos como la Revolución Francesa, el sistema consistorial implementado por Napoleón Bonaparte, la primera y segunda Guerra Mundial, y sobre todo la prolífica producción artística y cultural del pueblo judío en Francia. 

Recorrido por el barrio Judío “Le Marais”  

El hermoso barrio de “le Marais” está considerado como el corazón simbólico e histórico de la vida judía en París. El mahJ le invita a disfrutar de un recorrido por las angostas calles de dicho barrio descubriendo el pasado y presente de la cultura judía en la ciudad luz.

Por medio de la arquitectura, los olores y sabores de este dinámico vecindario, aprenderá cuáles son los momentos claves de la historia de los judíos en Francia, desde el optimismo que trajo la proclamación de la emancipación en 1791, hasta los días más obscuros durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Siguiendo los pasos de los inmigrantes asquenazíes, provenientes de Europa central y del este, que se establecieron en el barrio a partir de 1880, y de los sefardíes oriundos del norte de África, que revitalizaron “le Marais” después del Holocausto, este recorrido le mostrará el mosaico cultural aún vigente en este histórico barrio de la capital francesa.

Información práctica

Todas las visitas grupales deben ser reservadas con al menos 8 días de antelación. En caso de desistimiento la visita debe ser abonada, excepto cuando la cancelación se haya anunciado con al menos 7 días de antelación a  groupes@mahj.org.

El guía debe abonar las visitas el mismo día de la visita (en efectivo o tarjetas bancarias Visa, Amex).

Se admiten grupos de 15 personas como máximo.

NOTA: Se informa que la visita Recorrido por el barrio Judío “Le Marais” no es apta para personas con movilidad reducida.

Self-guided groups

Self-guided groups must be led by one of the following: curators, teachers accompanied by students, tour guides, or lecturers with professional credentials.

Groups (10 to 20 people in the collection or 10 to 15 in the temporary exhibition) must book in advance by email: groupes@mahj.org. Under 10 people, book individual tickets, groups admission condition does not apply.

The manager pays the entrance fees on its arrival (payment by cash, bank cards Visa or Amex).
